Writer & PhD researcher

Odile Jordan

Hello!

I’m a History PhD candidate at Northeastern University London, where I research Black and Asian migrant communities in 19th-century London. I use a mix of digital, critical and creative methods to study and celebrate the diasporic perspective, as informed by the archive. Ditigal mapping is an important part of this work, as I’ve been a team member of Mapping Black London since 2022. My current interests include critical cartography and racial terminology in the historic institutional record.

I enjoy speaking about my research outside of academic contexts at panels, festivals, and other public events. I also occasionally write short fiction, poetry and creative nonfiction exploring themes of identity and migration.

On this website, I share what I’m up to, working on, interested in, and any other news! Thanks for stopping by.
