Titled Charles Ignatius Sancho: A Black British Man of Letters and His Word, the two day conference included 22 international speakers and a live performance of Sancho’s music compositions. It was wonderful to have both academics and creatives in one room discussing the impact and legacy of this 18th-century Black British polymath. This was my first time on an organising committee and it was a great learning experience. I presented on the opening panel as well as the ‘Digital Humanities’ panel, where I discussed the digital mapping techniques we used at the start of our Mapping Black London trajectory, when we were still called Ignatius Sancho’s London.
